The Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA), a Pan-African Christian organization dedicated to promoting peace, peaceful coexistence and constructive relations between Christians and Muslims across the continent of Africa, is deeply concerned by the recent unprecedented demonstrations in Kenya, pitting anti-government protesters on one side and the government on the other side.
On a day like this, where the world reaffirms her commitment to the ideals of nonviolence while living in peace with one another and with others, I firmly believe humankind can continue to do better in shaping attitudes and behaviours that are fundamental to promoting a culture of peace amongst the peoples of our beautiful planet.
For more than 65 years, the Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA) has been promoting religious freedom for all and the peaceful coexistence of people from across religious divides in Africa. This is realised through various programmes, including the Freedom for Religion or Belief (FoRB), which PROCMURA has been implementing for several years across Sub-Saharan Africa.
