The Women and Girl Child Empowerment programme acknowledges and appreciates the fact that even though women play a major role in peace building, their participation at high level decision making processes, in some countries around Africa, has remained low yet they are among the main victims of whenever conflicts happen. These conflicts also leave the women and the girl child even more economically vulnerable, something which informed the setting up of PROCMURA Women and Girl Child Empowerment Centres.
It also acknowledges the fact that much as the cost of most conflicts is bone by women and children, they are key stakeholders in peace building and are in a position to create long term sustainable peace. Through this programme, PROCMURA empowers women and the girl child, both Christian and Muslim, through the PROCMURA Women and Girlchild Empowerment Centres established across the continent.
This programme is implemented in three levels, namely:
- Level 1: Women leaders
- Level 2: Women Community Forums
- Level 3: Mentorship of the girl child
