On Friday 2nd of August 2019, student leaders drawn from various public and private universities across Kenya were brought together at the Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA) Central office in Nairobi, Kenya, to officially roll out the PROCMURA University Chapters programme. The programme is set to address matters of religious intolerance, radicalization and violent extremism amongst students in institutions of higher learning. The vulnerability of the youth, and most especially university students, to radicalisation and violent extremism has been established across the globe. This reality corroborates youth strategic involvement in preventing the menace.

The Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA), in partnership with the Danish Mission Council Development Department (DMCDD), held the first ever international conference on FoRB in Nairobi, Kenya, from 1-4th July, 2019. The conference brought together more than 43 delegates from 17 countries across Africa.

It was a colourful ceremony at the Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA) Central Office in Nairobi, Kenya, as PROCMURA’s constituencies and technical staff congregated to launch the PROCMURA’s handbook, apart from engaging in other programmes. The handbook, which is available in both English and French, basically, explains what PROCMURA is and what it stands for.

Women leadership and participation in all levels in the society is an undeniable strategic force for sustainable development and peace. This was a significant point of departure for the twenty five (25) Christian women leaders from the Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA) constituencies in Africa, meeting at the PROCMURA Central office around the discussion on women, decision making and peace building. The discussions and inquiries corroborated the United Nations affirmation of the role of women in conflict prevention, as well as the African Union nexus between gender, development and peace as spelled out in the Agenda 2063.
