We Christian and Muslim religious leaders having met today, the  12th day of  October 2020 to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, in Isiolo County under the auspices of The Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA) in conjunction with The Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa (FECCLAHA), and The Council of Anglican Provinces in Africa (CAPA), to deliberate on the challenges faced by the girl child with a specific focus  on the unprecedented accelerated phenomenon of girl child pregnancies in our county and the entire Republic of Kenya, precipitated by the COVID 19 pandemic lockdown which has led to loss of jobs and livelihoods.

The International Day of Peace which was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly, and observed around the world each year on 21st September is here again. We in PROCMURA welcome the day and the period and also express our delight of the theme for the 2020 celebrations which is: “SHAPING PEACE TOGETHER”. For PROCMURA, like everyone else, this year’s World’s Peace Week will be marked with an added focus as the COVID - 19 pandemic has created so much pain and uncertainty for humanity, that peace in its wholeness (Shalom in Judaism and Christianity and Salaam in Islam) is greatly disturbed.
