Apart from educating and entertaining the public, the media plays a pivotal role in shaping and influencing behaviors and attitudes, shaping public opinion over a given subject and is a critical tool as well in setting the agenda for the public on any given topic, including cultivating a culture of peace and religious tolerance between people of different religious backgrounds.
PROCMURA continued with its overall goal of upholding the principles of religious freedom and all that it entails by building the capacity of religious leaders, faith actors, media, and government representatives, among other duty bearers across its constituencies in Africa.
Rev. Dr. Johnson Mbillah, former General Adviser and now a consultant of PROCMURA, has been honoured with a peace award. He received the award on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at a ceremony held at the Galaxy International School, Accra, Ghana. The award was given by TUDEC, a Turkish Islamic organisation committed to promoting (among others), inter-faith unity and dialogue for peace, in conjunction with the National Peace Council of Ghana.
Conflicts in Africa, especially in Sub-Saharan region, have increased for decades. Some of these conflicts have religious, ethnic and political dimensions. Studies also show that these conflicts have left the region even more vulnerable to various effects, including loss of lives and properties and displacement of persons from their native homes.
