The Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA) stands in solidarity with all Ghanaians as they prepare to exercise their democratic right to vote in the General Elections scheduled for Saturday, 7th December 2024. As a Pan-African Christian organisation committed to promoting peace, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect among communities of diverse religious, political, and cultural backgrounds, PROCMURA commends Ghana for its longstanding reputation as a peaceful country and commitment to peaceful elections.
We fully recognise this moment as a significant milestone for Ghana’s peace, democracy and development.
PROCMURA calls upon all Ghanaians—regardless of religious beliefs, ethnic backgrounds, or political affiliations—to uphold peace and harmony before, during, and after the elections. It is essential to mention that it is our shared responsibility to safeguard the peace that Ghana has experienced over the years.
The upcoming General Elections are a civic duty for all Ghanaians and an opportunity to contribute to the growth and strengthening of the country’s democracy, peace, and peaceful coexistence among people of various backgrounds. PROCMURA urges all Ghanaians to reject violence in all its forms, vote responsibly, and commit to remaining peaceful, knowing that Ghana’s strength within the region and Africa is in the unity and diversity of its people.
We appeal to religious and traditional leaders, political parties, and all stakeholders with whom we have previously engaged to lead by example in promoting peace, tolerance, and mutual respect.
PROCMURA remains resolute in its calling to build an African continent where Christian and Muslim communities and people of all faiths work together to promote peace and peaceful coexistence for a continent where humanity comes first—not religion, ethnicity, or political affiliations.
As we stand with Ghana during these elections, we encourage all Ghanaians and stakeholders to reflect deeply on the words of the Holy Books, which call for peace and love for one another.
Let us all be Ambassadors of Peace.
