It is with great sadness that we, The Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA), mourn the death of Dr. Marie Louise Florence Compaore, a long-serving and respected member of our Executive Committee.
Madam Compaore, as we, the PROCMURA family, affectionately called her, was the Women’s Leader of the PROCMURA Area Committee in Burkina Faso for over ten years and also served as a member of the Executive Committee of PROCMURA for over six years. She was a role model to the PROCMURA family, as she was a sister to some, a pillar and mother to others, and indeed a respected friend to the wider PROCMURA community across the continent and beyond.
One of the late Madam Compaore's most distinguishing marks was her genuineness and modesty in knowing when to speak, how to speak, and what to speak about at the PROCMURA General Council and Executive Committee meetings and even in her private conversations with all and sundry.
Her journeying on to eternity has left a void in our hearts that is difficult to fill. Her legacy of honesty, commitment, and service beyond the call of duty will remain an inspiration to us all in PROCMURA.
When she came for the 18th General Council of PROCMURA in Mombasa, Kenya (6th – 13th April 2024), and many of us interacted with her, we least conceived that that would be our last moments with her.
PROCMURA has lost an important personality who was committed to its cause and was always ready to assist, even in risky situations, to ensure that PROCMURA lives up to its Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
While we mourn the loss of the late Madam Compaore, we also celebrate her life and her profound impact on the PROCMURA family across Africa and beyond.
Madam Compaore, your legacy and impact in the cycles of PROCMURA and beyond will forever be cherished and remembered. Oh, we will not have an opportunity to interact with you again and anywhere in this world.
May God grant her family the grace and strength to go through life without her physical presence.
MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE.
