Greetings!
It is with profound commitment and resolve that I join hands with PROCMURA and all advocates across Africa in the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Violence against women and girls is not just a violation of fundamental rights—it is a systemic challenge that undermines the dignity, health, and potential of countless individuals, families, and communities.
As we mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, I am reminded that silence and inaction are complicit allies to oppression. This year’s theme, “Unite to End Violence Against Women and Girls,” is both a call to collective responsibility and a testament to the power of unity in confronting this scourge.
From grassroots interventions to policy advocacy, every action we take counts. Together, we have seen how education, empowerment, and persistent advocacy transform lives and inspire change. It is within these spaces that we cultivate hope, build resilience, and create a future where violence against women and girls has no place in our communities.
Let us amplify the voices of survivors, celebrate the courage of advocates, and share best practices that have proven to break cycles of violence. Let us also call on governments, faith leaders, and all stakeholders to commit unwaveringly to ending GBV. In the spirit of solidarity and faith, I urge all of us to speak out, stand firm, and remain relentless in pursuing justice and equality for all. Together, we can dismantle the structures perpetuating GBV and champion a culture of peace, respect, and dignity across our continent.
May our collective efforts inspire the change we long to see.
