Who We Are
We, the Programme for Christian-Muslim Relations in Africa (PROCMURA), are the only Pan-African Christian organisation with a specific focus on Christians’ constructive relations with Muslims, in witness and for peace and peaceful coexistence. Founded in 1959, PROCMURA’s constituencies comprise Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox, Evangelical, and African Instituted (Independent) Churches. We also have Catholics in our constituencies, some of whom have served in various capacities within the PROCMURA family.
Currently, we are well established in 20 countries spread across East, West, Central, and Southern Africa, and operate in 10 more countries where we are not yet fully established.
PROCMURA exists to build bridges of understanding, reconciliation and practical cooperation between Christians and Muslims across Africa.
Our Commitment
Our work is rooted in the belief that communities can live together in dignity, mutual respect and shared responsibility. Through education, advocacy, youth engagement, peacebuilding and grassroots programmes, PROCMURA supports communities to respond to conflict, defend religious freedom and promote sustainable peace.
